Another Actor Fronted Band?!

June 6, 2010 Leave a comment

Today, I had the house all to myself for hours and there was nothing to do so I turned on the television. I flipped through channel after channel after channel and I finally found The Notebook on ABC Family. Now, while this movie has been out for years, I have never watched it before. A lot of people I know liked that movie so, since there was nothing else on, I became highly intrigued and decided to watch it. Now, this blog entry isn’t about the movie and how great it was but this is about Ryan Gosling.

I loved him in the movie (let’s face it, he’s hot) so I decided to look up some information on him. It didn’t take much time at all for me to come across his band with Zach Shields called Dead Man’s Bones. Now, as it’s been said, when an actor decides to delve into music they usually fall flat on their faces. While, I don’t like believing stereotypes, I have to say that I was excited and yet a little hesitant to check it out.

I watched their “Dead Hearts” video first and was quite surprised to see a very unique and artistic music video, not like the flashy shit that most commercial bands and pop artists are doing today. So I continued to watch and came to actually like the eerie instrumentation and almost gothic sounding vocals that are in that song. Then I watched their video for “In the Room Where You Sleep” (shown above) and honestly fell in love with the band.

It’s something different than what most music sounds nowadays. I love the Halloween-esque feel to them and they are definitely a band I am going to do more research on. Hopefully you all check them out and enjoy it.
