Apocalyptic and Insane: My Dream w/Jared and Shannon Leto

June 17, 2010 2 comments

Ok so I thought about putting this blog up and then completely changed my mind. Instead I decided to throw up a tweet about it and I got so many people telling me to dish about it that I decided to throw it up anyways for all of your reading pleasure. Anyways, after a rather long night last night I went to sleep and had the most amazing dream ever, which featured the sexy Leto brothers. As I said before, there was nothing sexual about it (sorry, Danielle :P) but the whole concept behind it along with how I felt when I woke up just made it amazing.

Apparently, I was at a 30 Seconds to Mars concert and I was like one of the very last people to stick around. I stood there for a while and talked to Jared before I walked around the venue and saw Shannon. He kind of looked pissed off and I am gathering it was because of an argument he had with Jared so I didn’t stop to talk to him; I just kind of gave him this wave and he gave me a head nod before going back and talking to the people he was with. Then there was a news feed being broadcasted throughout the venue about how the government was trying to destroy the human race’s self expression and how the military was going around rounding up all these people for “brain modification”.

Somehow I ended up in this van with Jared and his assistant Emma and a whole bunch of other people to form this sort of rogue group that was trying to stay away from the military. We traveled around for a long time, trying to keep a low profile while we stopped and crashed at motels from time to time to get rest and clean ourselves up. During one of these stops in particular, our group got bombarded by soldiers and some of them either got taken away or ran off before they could get snatched. Only I survived with Jared and Emma and another guy who I have never even seen before.

We must have been traveling around for weeks and finally, at one stop, the boy and I were sitting in the back of the van with the doors wide open while we ate and watched the citizens just kind of walk around. Then I heard this really weird robotic sound before this huge guy started walking down the street equipped in a huge mechanial robot that had guns (think of the movie Avatar). I got so pissed that the military was resorting to those means of control that when the guy walked by past I just yelled at him only to get one of his guns pointed at me. Nevertheless, I shut my mouth and surprisingly didn’t get nabbed up by the soldiers walking by. Then the boy and I sat there stewing about how we just wanted to kill all of them… that humans being treated this way wasn’t fair and Jared just kind of laughed at us both only to say that killing them would be too messy.

We drove around a bit more until we reached a large grocery store/warehouse. The boy and I walked around, checking out the surroundings, before I grabbed Jared an orange (which he asked for) at one of the stands. I grabbed one for myself and was eating mine as I continued walking around the store by myself. Then out of the blue I saw Shannon. I was so fucking excited and kind of ran over to him before he noticed me. He had this huge smile on his face and just kind of looked at me before saying, “Jessica Kochel, right?” I wasn’t expecting that and so I looked at him, a bit confused before I asked him, “How did you know that?” Then he began telling me that he had been on facebook, checking out everyone’s profile to kill time and he remembered that I was one of the last faces he saw before everything happened. Realizing that he hadn’t seen Jared in forever, I began to tell him that his brother was okay and that I’d been traveling around with him since the concert and that Jared was there as well. Shannon kind of had this huge freak out and asked me if I could take him to him.

I ran back to the van and Jared was asleep so I reached in and tapped him on his shoulder before handing him his orange. Then I told him I had this surprise and Jared just kind of looked at me like an idiot as I looked around for Shannon, who had somehow got held behind. “It’s Shannon… Shannon’s here!” I replied before looking around once more. Jared sat up, alert as all hell and started looking around a bit himself before he opened the door to the van and ran outside, attempting to look for his brother. I caught a glimpse of Shan running towards the van from the other side and I ran after Jared screaming his name, who apparently didn’t hear me at first but then turned around and ran straight at Shannon. Both buys had the goofiest smiles on their faces and gave each other the biggest hugs ever.

It was totally such a movie dream. No, nothing sexual happened with any of us but when I woke up, I felt blissfully peaceful… like just for that moment I had been apart of Jared’s life and it was amazing to see such love between two brothers. I know it sounds pathetic but it was overall an amazing dream and one that I wish had never ended. But there you guys go… for the ones who were curious at least.

30 Seconds To Mars’ “Closer To The Edge” Music Video

June 8, 2010 Leave a comment

Really, this is a fabulous day to be a member of the Echelon.

After spending  just two shows with other fans of 30 Seconds to Mars, I have come to the serious conclusion that I will be able to go to any other show and not have as much of a memorable night as I did in Philly and Allentown. Shannon, Tomo, Jared and Tim have an energy that cannot be duplicated by any one else! Plus, there is such a unity not only amongst the members of the crowd but between the crowd and the band as well. I have never experienced something like it before and while I suggest that each and every single one of you go to a 30STM show, I know that most of you won’t.

However, the guys have blessed the members of the Echelon and all of their fans with a beautiful video compilation of clips from their lives shows and made an entire music video out of it for their new single “Closer To The Edge”, which Jared said will be publicly released tomorrow. The video above is a video camera recorded version that was taken from the early release of the video over in New Zealand.

While Bartholomew Cubbins has gifted us with absolutely stunning videos, I have to say that I think this is going to be my favorite. I absolutely got chills just watching it and I have to say that I don’t think anyone will truly appreciate it unless you have experienced it yourselves. But anyways, keep an eye out for it and take the time to watch the video before it gets removed by shitty ass EMI!

An Insane Day In Allentown!

June 2, 2010 1 comment

I have been to more shows in my life than I can possibly count. Some of them were shows that I actually went to because I knew a band that was performing and some shows I just went to because I got in for free. Either way, there is nothing like a 30 Seconds to Mars show. After winning tickets from Radio 104.5 in April for the Electric Factory show, I knew that I HAD to go to another show. For some reason, the guys planned to do a show in Allentown a little bit over a month later.

Now, for those who don’t know, the Croc Rock is such a fucking shitty venue; only beat by the shittier Trocadero. As I found out during that concert, they didn’t have any air conditioning and a show in the middle of summer with no air conditioning and a small ass packed room is enough to make you feel like you are dying.

Anyways, my grandparents and I left the house around 1:30 and we stopped for lunch before driving our way up to Allentown. We finally made it around 3:30 and my grandmother and I grabbed our chairs and took our places in the already somewhat filled alleyway. Thing is, 30STM’s fans are die hard. They will show up extremely early and stay extremely late but I didn’t expect for like fifty or so people to already be there. The wait went really quick though as we made friends with the nice ladies sitting next to us (Josette and Nicole), who we spent the rest of the show with and I caught up with Angela. Then Patricia showed up and we spent some time with her before she finally went to sit in the bar and wait for Patrice and Lisa.

While we sat there, Fred (ex-singer/guitarist for Taking Back Sunday and current singer for Terrible Things) came outside for a brief moment and Tomo came out as well, hurriedly making his way to the tour bus. Hardly anybody noticed his departure but a lot of people caught him on his way back into the building and he stopped to say hi and to take pictures and sign autographs.

The doors were supposed to open at 7 but, as usual, the doors opened up late and we were hurriedly ushered through the doors and up the steps to the stage. My grandmother went off to stand by the side of the floor while Nicole, Josette and I made our way onto the floor. Surprisingly we didn’t get that far away from the stage and everything was going smoothly until people tried skipping in front of us. Josette ended up on the side with my grandma while Nicole and I decided to brave the crowd.

The time spent in the crowd alone is going to make this show the most noticeable for me. I made friends with a rather large group of people (Mike; Danielle, who remembered me from Philly; Kelly; Dominique; Jess; Gwen; Lisa and anybody else I may have forgot). Mike was fucking hilarious and I’m not going to go into reasons why but just know that he looked pretty much exactly like his mancrush Jared Leto, down to the pink mohawk and everything. That whole night was filled with laughs and dildos (*cough*Jess*cough*) until the show started.

Terrible Things weren’t exactly my cup of tea, and it appeared from a quick look around the crowd that the audience agreed. Once they were off and we waited some more for the instruments to get set, 30STM finally came out. Shannon took his place behind the drums and Tomo stepped out with his spiked helmet on and a gas mask. Jared sang “Escape” from off stage and then finally came running out, wearing a uniform jacket and facepant, where he played the rest of the set. I was pleased to hear that his voice was considerably better and it didn’t take him any time at all to teach the crowd their parts that they needed to sing. I have never heard a crowd as loud as the Allentown show and sometimes it was hard to hear him over us. Jared looked genuinely pleased with us and excited to be there despite the fact that he said he was running on like 5 hours of sleep for the whole week.

The dildos were thrown on stage and he threw one back into the crowd after going on a bit about hoping that they weren’t used. He beckoned us all to take three steps forward and he wasn’t happy when we didn’t move but there was honestly no room to move, we were packed in there like sardines. He commented on Lester about how he was going to be in the new music video for his signature standing on top of people in the crowd. Then it was time for the acoustic set and Jared sounded absolutely beautiful. You can catch some of that here. Then they went back into more This Is War songs before stepping off stage where they waited until the came back to do “Kings and Queens”, Mike got up on stage and after I lifted Nicole up to crowd surf, so did she.

The set was very short compared to their other shows and I kind of blame that on the venue for being so excruciatingly hot. However, it didn’t matter to me because they put on an amazing show and I got one of Jared’s guitar picks out of that along with Tim’s signature and a whole slew of new friends.

I never went to a show where you can meet and connect with so many people. 30STM fans are amazing and I am insanely proud to be apart of the Echelon!!! I love you all and thank you for making Allentown amazing for me.

It Was A Big Weekend: Mars Comes to Wales

May 23, 2010 Leave a comment

It was a long weekend for the guys from 30 Seconds to Mars but apparently worth it. The band traveled to Bangor, Wales all the way from Los Angeles to play 4 songs. Now, if that doesn’t show dedication I don’t know what does.

BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend Music Festival is taking place this weekend and features top name acts like: Alicia Keys, Lostprophets, Justin Beiber, MGMT, Kelly Rowland, Chiddy Bang, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Paramore, Vampire Weekend, Crystal Castles, along with 30 Seconds to Mars and many more. The guys put on a pretty good show minus Jared’s pretty poor vocals and all of the pre-teen girls that seemed to have made up most of the crowd. However, the guys seemed to be in pretty high spirits… especially Jared who joked about Justin Bieber and even declared the boy his son.

Either way, check out the interview above and find out the exact color of Jared’s hair and then peep the performance down below in the following links.

New “This Is War” Music Video Teaser

May 20, 2010 Leave a comment

The second teaser video for 30 Seconds to Mars’ new music video for “This Is War”.

It’s not that much different than the other one I posted but the new things that are shown still look amazing. I can’t wait til it is released! And rumor has it that they are releasing “This Is War” and “Closer To The Edge” at the same time.

I’m not sure what that means exactly but Jared Leto confirmed it himself right here.

My Favorite Brothers: Jared and Shannon Leto

May 20, 2010 Leave a comment

So, I figured that instead of putting up videos all of the time and throwing a little blurb underneath it that I would start throwing up pictures that I love or even just my outlook on some things.

Anddddd if I get enough people interested I may even start throwing up some of my personal writing… including songs that I may or may not be working on.

Anyways, they are my favorite brothers and these pictures of them never fail to make me smile so I must thank HXCFAIRY on tumblr.com for this (click on picture to get to her page). This just makes me even more excited for Artifact, the 30 Seconds to Mars documentary that is set to be released sometime in the future.

This Is War

May 19, 2010 Leave a comment

Marky and I both have certain things that we enjoy and certain musicians that we love. When it comes down to me, my favorite band has been 30 Seconds to Mars for years. So of course, I tend to be biased about anything I say about them.

Anyways, it is known, whether you are a lover of the band or not, that Tomo, Shannon, and Jared go out of their way when it comes to anything they do… let alone their music videos. However, after watching that :35 video teaser, I think that they have truly outdid themselves with their new video.

“This Is War” is 30 Seconds to Mars slated second single off of their new album that was released in November of ’09 by the same name. While they started recording it months ago, the band has been busy with their Into The Wild tour which just recently ended but it appears that they have found time in their busy schedule to overlook the editing process as you may have witnessed a few pictures of Jared with the crew floating around online.

The video has yet to have an official release date but there has been some rumor that it may come out some time in June. No matter how long it takes, I am sure that their new video will be another memorable one.
